Box 1986, Berkeley, CA 94701; Bayer HealthCare (formerly Miles Labs. and Cutter Labs.) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bayer Schering AG. Bayer Schering Corp. has its main U.S. headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. In April 2005, Talecris BioTherapeutics, a subsiary of NPS BioTherapeutics Inc., acquired Bayer’s plasma products business, but this did not include Bayer’s recombinant hemophilia products. Bayer’s facility in Berkeley, CA, opened in 1903, was originally Cutter Labs. Bayer purchased Cutter Labs. in 1974, and the company became Miles, Inc. Cutter/Miles was formally merged into Bayer AG in 1993, and the name was changed to Bayer in 1995. The Clayton, NC, establishment, built in 1972 by Cutter Labs., manufactures most of Bayer’s, now Talacris’ blood-derived products; Bayer acquired Schering AG, officially completing this Dec. 29, 2006, forming Bayer Schering Pharma AG and renamed the combined U.S. subsidiaries as Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals
